We are located in the National Oceanography Centre Southampton where we are part of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and the Geochemistry Research Group.  We are always looking for good people to come and work with us. Opportunities @ the Foster Lab

PhD Students

The Graduate School NOCS consists of about 200 PhD students studying the environmental sciences (more here). Many are funded through our NERC Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) INSPIRE (more here). Every year we advertise around 3 or 4 fully funded projects where funding is allocated on a competitive basis, we will provide a link here when these are open for applications (usually online September, closing data for applications early January, interviews February, start in October). We also welcome students with their own funding through a variety of schemes (e.g. here and here).

Postdoctoral Fellowships

There are a number of competetive schemes in the UK that fund Postdoctoral Fellowships. These include NERC Independent Research Fellowship, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Fellowship, Royal Society Univeristy Research Fellowship, Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship, Newton International Fellowship, and European Research Council Starting and Consolidator Grants, Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship.
